Opta Power Rankings allows you to compare football clubs across Europe. Use them to see how the Premier League compares against Bayern Munich or whether Liverpool outshone Barcelona.

Napoli are back at the top of Serie A, cementing their place among Italy’s premier teams.

1. Manchester City

Since Pep Guardiola took charge, Manchester City have become a dominant force in England, winning three league titles this year alone and possessing the potential to capture six more by 2023/2024.

City players have quickly adopted Guardiola’s philosophy, with veterans such as Kevin de Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan remaining competitive even at age 32 and 33 respectively. To topple them off will require something truly remarkable from another team.

Manchester City made one of their marquee signings this summer in Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish, adding skillful attack. Grealish could help unlock defenses and score more goals this season.

2. Real Madrid

Real Madrid are one of the most successful clubs in European football history, having won 14 Champions League championships and 33 La Liga and 19 Copa del Rey titles domestically.

Carlo Ancelotti has experienced mixed success during his second season in charge at Real Madrid. Last term they struggled against Manchester City, yet have made strides this year and now challenge for the title once more.

Kylian Mbappe is one of the frontrunners for this year’s Ballon d’Or, having scored multiple goals for both club and country – giving him a great chance of becoming the first in his family to take home this accolade.

3. Liverpool

Liverpool Football Club is one of England’s most celebrated teams, having amassed 19 League titles, eight FA Cups and 16 Community Shields over their history. Furthermore, Liverpool have six European championship titles along with winning both UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup trophies.

This club, founded in 1892, is one of the biggest names in football with many great players under Klopp. They boast amazing talent in both player management and leadership.

Even though Liverpool had an unsuccessful season last year, they should not be discounted outright. Form is temporary while class remains permanent – and Liverpool still have one of the premier teams. Plus they boast many young talents that will undoubtedly increase in performance moving forward.

4. Chelsea

Form is fleeting but class is eternal – something Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal can attest to this season.

Blues may not win another Premier League crown in 2023/2024, but they should remain competitive both domestically and in Europe. Todd Boehly brought in Mauricio Pochettino to help restore their winning ways and it appears he made an excellent selection – favoring younger players that he feels can develop at the club rather than opting for “traditionalist” alternatives like John Terry.

5 . Frankfurt

Frankfurt is known as one of Europe’s major financial and traffic centers, boasting low-rise residential neighborhoods surrounded by skyscrapers that rival those found in New York City and a climate comparable to New York’s.

Bayern Munich have managed to make it back into the quarterfinals of Champions League despite losing top scorer Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona this summer, thanks to players such as Leroy Sane, Sadio Mane, Jamal Musiala and Eric Choupo Moting who remain formidable opponents within Bundesliga.

This year, the NFL will play two regular-season games in Germany: Kansas City will take on Miami at Kansas City Memorial Stadium while Indianapolis and New England meet at Frankfurt Stadium – home of Eintracht Frankfurt.

6 . Villareal

Villarreal FC – commonly referred to in Spain as El Submarino Amarillo or Yellow Submarine – has long been considered one of the top football teams in Spain and have enjoyed many successes over time, such as reaching a semi-final position of the UEFA Champions League.

Villarreal were promoted back to La Liga at the conclusion of 2012-13 season after one season in Segunda Division, finishing second behind champions Elche and being promoted on final day. Their return saw them finish sixth place and qualify for Europa League.

Yeremy Pino has quickly made an impression since debuting for the senior team a year ago, becoming one of its star performers and set to define an era at the club.

In the sporting world, there is no denying just how much entertainment Premier League football provides. England’s top fight has it all, from world class operators on the pitch, to passionate supporters of it. Additionally, there are some formidable sides that look unstoppable when they’re in full flow, including Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

Last season’s treble winners might’ve lost a few top talents in the shape of Riyad Mahrez and Ilkay Gundogan, but they’ve replaced them with sufficient quality and are already looking like an unstoppable force at this early stage of the Premier League campaign. While defending their long-awaited European crown will also be firmly on the agenda this season, retaining the Premier League title for a record fourth successive season will be another prime objective. Pep Guardiola loves to make history and his immensely talented squad look more than capable of delivering yet another campaign of historical achievements.

While many fans might feel the landscape of England’s top competition looks a tad ominous for the future, there’s a reason why no side has ever lifted the Premier League trophy four times in row. It’s a huge ask. It won’t stop City fans from getting excited and people from backing the club in terms of betting, with odds of 4/11 still undoubtedly tempting many football supporters, but there is competition in the division and a few sides who could put an end to Manchester City’s record-breaking challenge. Even at these early stages, a number of sides are in the running for the title, although a team that contains the likes of Erling Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne, and Bernardo Silva will be tough to stop over an entire season.

Liverpool are in the mix once again

A club that appears to be back in the title mix once again after dropping their standards last season, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have the weapons in attack to potentially challenge Manchester City this season. While a leaky defence could hinder their prospects as the season progresses, the Reds possess enough quality in forward areas of the pitch to cause serious problems to a number of sides this season. When Mohamed Salah isn’t on song, Jota can step up, while Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez are more than capable of putting a goalscoring run together. Throw in the acquisitions of Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister in midfield – a vital area of the pitch – and Liverpool are looking dangerous again.

Arsenal will surely be right up there

After essentially choking at the crucial stages last season, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal will be hungry to make up for it in the season ahead.

Alongside the potential determination to put things right following their title collapse last campaign, the Gunners have added in key areas, with the likes of Declan Rice providing some much-needed additional steel to an area of the pitch that certainly requires it. Alongside some defensive reinforcements in the shape of Jurrien Timber and David Raya, the Gunners are in good shape for another title tilt. If any side can stop Manchester City’s dominance, it could well be the North London giants.

Tottenham have massively improved under Postecoglou

(Image via https://twitter.com/TheSpursExpress)

When he isn’t giving fascinating interviews off the pitch, new Spurs boss, Ange Postecoglou, is implementing a refreshing style of play on it. Tottenham are a completely different animal under the Australian, with the former Celtic manager already managing to instil his attacking philosophy in these early stages of the new Premier League season.

Spurs might have lost Harry Kane’s output, but his goals have been replaced by a more well-rounded team that contains a number of players who are capable of chipping in with a few.

Son Heung-min has filled the void left by Kane up top, with the Korean star already bagging a few goals this season, while the inventiveness of James Maddison has enhanced Tottenham’s attack even further. A title push might come too soon for Spurs, but with Ange Postecoglou at the helm, it feels like anything is possible.

Brighton could be surprise challengers

Given their relatively modest budget compared to the mega-rich sides they’re coming up against, Brighton have been a breath of fresh air in a moneyed competition.

The Seagulls’ shrewd recruitment has resulted in a side that is bursting full of potential, already leading to sides like Chelsea and Liverpool poaching their star performers. Unlike many sides, though, Brighton have shown they can come again, with the clubs’ remarkable transfer approach unearthing gems from around Europe and adding to their free flowing style of play even further.

Leicester managed to win the Premier League against all the odds, and while Brighton don’t have the same defensive stability as the Foxes did, their attacking prowess makes them a potential surprise package this season. Alongside Manchester City, Roberto De Zerbi’s side are certainly a team to watch right now.

So, fasten your seatbelts as we dive into the captivating realm of fantasy football.

Your Comprehensive Guide to Victory on the Virtual Pitch

Below are a few key points you must bear in mind to make the most when playing fantasy football World Cup 2023.

  1. Thorough Player Research: Knowledge is power! Before drafting your fantasy team, invest time in researching players thoroughly. Analyze their past performances, recent form, injuries, and the roles they play within their respective national teams. Keep an eye on emerging talents and potential breakout stars as they can be valuable differentiators in your squad.
  2. Balance and Diversity: A balanced team is key to success in fantasy football. While it’s tempting to load your team with star players, remember that you have a budget constraint. Mix and match marquee players with reliable, lesser-known ones. Ensure a diverse lineup that covers various positions and playing styles to maximize your team’s potential across different match scenarios.
  3. Captaining Wisely: The captain’s choice can make or break your fantasy football team’s success. Select your captain wisely, opting for a player in good form with favourable upcoming fixtures. The captain earns double points, so picking someone who is consistent and delivers goals or assists regularly can give you an edge over your competitors.
  4. Keep Up with Fixture List: Stay updated on the schedule of matches during the fantasy football World Cup 2023. Understanding upcoming fixtures can help you plan your transfers and captaincy decisions effectively. Favourable matchups could mean more opportunities for your players to score points. So be strategic in selecting your starting lineup.
  5. Utilize Chips and Transfers Wisely: The fantasy football World Cup 2023 may offer a variety of chips (e.g., Wildcard, Triple Captain, Free Hit, Bench Boost) that provide special powers to optimize your team’s performance. However, the sole difference between a free hit and a wildcard is that adjustments made with a free hit only apply for one game week. Once that game week is through, your team will return to how it was before. Hence, plan when to use these chips strategically, aligning them with favorable match schedules and ensuring maximum point returns.
  6. Monitor Injuries and Suspensions: Injuries and suspensions can significantly impact a player’s availability and performance in fantasy football. Stay up-to-date with the latest news and make necessary transfers to replace injured or suspended players promptly.
  7. Study Team Formations and Tactics: Understanding the tactical setups of different teams participating in the football World Cup can help you predict player performances more accurately. Some formations may favour specific players, while others might restrict their potential. Hence, stay flexible and adapt your squad according to tactical trends throughout the tournament.
  8. Observe Differential Picks: Differentiate your team from others by including players with low ownership but high potential. These differential picks can become game-changers and provide you with crucial points, especially if they deliver standout performances during the tournament.

The Fantasy Football World Cup 2023 offers a thrilling experience for football enthusiasts to test their managerial skills and strategic acumen. By following this comprehensive guide, you can craft a formidable fantasy squad, make astute tactical decisions, and stay ahead of your competition. Remember, success in fantasy football comes with a mix of research, and decision-making. Now, get ready to dominate the virtual pitch and emerge as a victorious manager in the virtual pitch.

At major international tournaments, fans often expect memorable performances from the stars, which is not surprising. Those who had a good statistical performance in the live score in the previous club season are also under scrutiny, especially in teams from the top leagues. Players that didn’t qualify for anything or had modest statistical results before the tournament may amaze. At every tournament, without exception, there are always bright examples when the stars fail and the dark horses manage to get their share of glory.

The first name that comes to mind is Emiliano Martínez, the Argentine goalkeeper who performed well in the penalty shootout and the game as a whole. The credit must go to him, at least for the moment at the end of extra time in the final match when he saved the team from defeat in a moment involving Kolo Muani. Overall, there were quite a few goalkeepers at the tournament from whom no one expected much. That included Wojciech Szczesny, who led Poland to the playoffs despite the inconsistent play of the others. On the other hand, Yassine Bounou has made several dry matches in a row. Watching all the games at the World Cup live and following the scores, fans noted both Dominik Livakovic and Vanja Milinkovic-Savic. However, their teams had a lot of conceded goals.

The field players who wowed fans at the 2022 World Cup

Such selections are always subjective, so it makes no sense to tie the ranking positions to the results statistics on the field. For example, Harry Maguire, who is constantly criticized, had a good tournament. However, he often attacked and pressured the opponent’s defense. Yes, those who followed live football scores from World Cup 2022 couldn’t help but notice the goals from Maguire, but it was a great tournament. The following players are also worth highlighting:

  1. Sofyan Amrabat led the game in the center in both directions.

  2. Alexis Mac Allister of Brighton did not shine in the championship, but at the World Cup, he scored a goal for the Poles and even provided an assist in the final match.

  3. Ivan Perišić. It seemed like Modric would dominate the Croatian national team, and Gvardiol might take a shot, but Perišić scored four points on a goal-plus-assist system. He consistently executed standards.

  4. Julián Alvarez. He is a young star who should have been sitting behind Lautaro Martinez, but he was able to score four goals at once. It was a phenomenal tournament for him.

When watching some iconic football matches live, fans could see the excellent scoresfrom Enzo Fernandez, the steady play of super veteran Pepe, and the tremendous work on the wing from Josip Juranovic.

On November 20, the 2022 FIFA World Cup kicked off in Qatar, which will run until December 18. Qatar is one of the smallest and at the same time richest countries in the world, and FIFA’s decision to grant it the right to host the tournament has caused heated debate. What makes the football championship controversial, how it will be held and who to root for – in today’s article.

Today, bookmakers offer a huge number of bonuses. Using this bonus code, you can get the juiciest bonuses from one of the most reliable bookmakers in the world. Remember that Bet365 is legally regulated and the bettor also has to follow all the rules set by Bet365.

The most expensive World Cup in history

The World Cup in Qatar has become the most expensive in history. The authorities spent a record $220 billion on preparations. Previously, the record belonged to Brazil, which hosted the 2014 World Cup for $15 billion; in 2018, the championship cost Russia $11.6 billion.

Qatar is the first country in the Arab world to host the championship, as well as the smallest since the 1954 tournament in Switzerland (the territory of Qatar is about 11.5 thousand square kilometers). The tournament will be held at eight stadiums, which are located close to each other.

The heat at the «winter» tournament

The timing of the championship is also unusual. As a rule, it takes place in the summer, but due to the hot climate in Qatar (in summer the temperature would exceed 40 degrees), it was scheduled for the end of the year.

Even in late autumn and winter, Qatar has high temperatures and high humidity. So, the Wales team had to change their training plan due to the fact that the air temperature exceeded 30 degrees.

Players are not only at risk of heat stroke, but may also make poor decisions when playing or exercising in high temperatures.

Expensive tickets and alcohol

The most expensive were the tickets themselves for the tournament. Thus, the fans of the tournament this year paid 40% more than those who attended the 2018 World Cup. At the 2018 World Cup, tickets for a match cost an average of £214, for the 2022 World Cup – £286. Tickets for the final in Qatar are much more expensive – £684.

Alcohol turned out to be expensive, which was difficult for foreign tourists to find in Qatar even before the 2022 World Cup. According to The Guardian, a 0.5 liter mug of Budweiser beer, the only official World Cup beer, will cost around £11.6 (roughly €13.3), while the non-alcoholic version will cost £7 (€8). Reuters, citing a source familiar with alcohol sales at the tournament, put the price at $13.73.

Ascetic housing

The fans were also disappointed by the living conditions. «Welcome to the World Cup in Qatar where you can pay over $200 a night to stay in a shipping container» – journalist Joe Pompliano tweeted.

In addition to «asceticism» there was also a problem with the accommodation of guests in a small area of the state. The population of Qatar is about 2.9 million people (as of 2021), most of whom live in the capital, Doha. The country should accept from 1.2 million to 1.5 million foreign fans.

DOHA, QATAR – With a berth in the Round of 16 hanging in the balance against a one-time ally—now mortal enemy—the United States was anxious to exorcise the past demons of their 1998 loss to Iran. Thanks to a goal by Christian Pulisic in the 39th minute, American soccer has found its new Captain America in the Hersey, PA native.

Pulisic, who had had a run of rough form for EPL powerhouse Chelsea, came through for the upstart and young Yankees when they needed it most against a stout and very tough-minded Iranian side determined not to concede anything to the United States.

With the unlikeliest World Cup arguably ever, the United States now face a beatable Dutch side, and if things shake out in the other side of the knockout stage, could go on a memorable and deep run in potentially facing Australia in the semifinals.

It is too soon to crown Pulisic “Captain America,” as that moniker has been held for seemingly forever by Dallas Cowboys Hall of Fame quarterback Roger Staubach, but with soccer finally cracking the cultural mainstream in the middle of the NFL season, I don’t think that Staubach—or Chris Evans—would mind sharing that mantle for the next few weeks.

This winter sees the biggest event in football kicking off in Qatar – the long-awaited World Cup – culminating on the 18th of November with the winner lifting the trophy as the best team in the world.

With the players ready and waiting to go head-to-head in the Middle East, there are a few factors that could have an impact on the way they perform – like the temperature, which is a huge change to what European players will be used to this time of year!

As well as injuries that have cost a couple of teams some of their best. One thing is for certain, this competition will tempt many of us to place bets on our favourite teams, some chosen at random, as a way of making the action more exciting, and to win a bit of cash!

So, if you enjoy betting, or playing online casino games, read on as we take a look at the top three favourites to win the World Cup this year.

Brazil

As the competition kicks off in Qatar, all eyes will be on Brazil when it comes to deciding who is going to lift the trophy this year. No matter what, Brazil are always going to be the favourite, and with the players that have been called up – it’s really no surprise.

Fans all over the world might just be about to see a real show when it comes to goals from Brazil, with forwards like Gabriel Martinelli, who has helped take Arsenal to the top of the Premier League table since it began in August, Antony – who has been showcasing his skills with Manchester United before the World Cup Break, and Neymar who is going into the competition with 11 goals under his belt for PSG this season.

But as we know, it’s not all about scoring goals! Keeping your opponents from racking up the points is also key. Brazil’s defence is looking strong, with both Ederson and Alisson Becker to choose from in goal – both of which are incredibly strong choices, as well as Thiago Silva, Alex Telles and Eder Militao to assist defensively. The team cruised through qualifying, so it might be worth hedging your bets on the South Americans this winter.

Argentina

There’s only one man we’ll have our eyes firmly on when it comes to Argentina. It’s Messi’s last chance to snatch the World Cup win, and with a strong team of great players behind him – could this be his best shot? Throughout the last couple of Decades, the South American team have struggled to make it past the quarterfinals.

Much like Brazil, Argentina came out of their group qualification relatively unscathed, so considering their current form – they may just be on their way to the final. Along with Messi, fans should expect to see Manchester United’s Lisandro Martinez taking to the pitch to defend, along with Angel Correa and Julian Alvarez up front. Argentina could be a risky one – it could go either way depending on the form they bring to the Cup.

France

The Europeans are always strong contenders when it comes to performing on a World stage, and this year shouldn’t be any different. France is in with a shout when it comes to lifting the cup this December – although their qualifying matches were slightly unconvincing, and with the added blow of a missing Benzema, it could go one of two ways. Players in with a chance of helping the team bounce back from this noticeable absence are Mbappe and Olivier Giroud, who will be hoping to bring home a few points for the French team, as well as big names from across all leagues, like Konate – currently playing for Liverpool and William Saliba who is having an incredible season at Arsenal so far. France is currently the third favourite to win the world cup – but with one of the top players missing, can they live up to expectations?

With the 2022 World Cup less than a month away in Qatar, teams are making their final preparations before flying to the desert to claim the world’s biggest sporting championship.

According to the sports betting site, Vegas Insider, Brazil and France lead all World Cup countries, and with betting lines set to open on the action, die-hard and hungry soccer fans are ready to bet a record amount of money ranging from USD to Turkish Lira, in hopes to securing a big payday of their own.

Which team will hoist the famed Coupe du Monde, let’s find out!

Brazil (+400): Thanks to being loaded with talent such as Neymar Jr., Fernando Gabriel Jesus, Jose Vinicius Junior and Pedro, the yellow-clad Selecao look primed to claim Brazil’s tournament record sixth title. If there is a golden opportunity for an otherwise underachieving side to reclaim their glory, it is the Samba Kings.

France (+600): The only country that can rival Brazil in talent, as well as being one of the few countries to have a head-to-head edge vs. Brazil, the defending World Cup champions boast a high-scoring trio of their own in the form of Kylian Mbappe, Antoine Griezzman and Karim Benzema.

While not having the same edge as the ’18 club, and looking relatively flat in EURO 2020, France will need to find a way to dominate and control the action from the midfield due to the loss of N’golo Kante.

Argentina (+650): It’s now or never for Lionel Messi. Arguably this generation’s greatest and most influential soccer player ever, Messi has won just about everything a player can want.

Four European titles, seven Ballon d’Or awards, ten La Liga titles and a club-record 35 trophies at the club level. A Copa America title in 2021 and an Olympic gold medal in Beijing at the international level for his country are all impressive.

But the one glaring omission from his otherwise spotless resume: A FIFA World Cup title.

In a country that still celebrates his idol, Diego Maradona, if Messi cannot win in Qatar, he will forever live in the shadow of Maradona in his own country forever.

Dark Horse: Belgium (+1400): Whole other countries such as England (+700), Spain (+800), Germany (+1000), Netherlands (+1200) and Portugal (+1400) having better odds—and arguably better talent—there is just something about the Red Devils that is hard to ignore.

Some say that this is the last chance for the “Golden Generation” of Belgian futbol, one cannot help but ignore world-class strikers such as Romelo Lukaku, Kevin De Bruyne, Dries Mertens and Eden Hazard.

Can boss Roberto Martinez finally get the most out of the ’22 side and finally get them over the knockout round hump in Qatar?

The soccer World Cup draw is surely as exciting as watching men in suits pull balls out of a bag gets. But the results of their endeavor are likely to be crucial as to who thrives at World Cup 2022 and who takes a surprisingly early exit.

As anyone that has placed their Premiership bets during the 2021/22 season can attest, sometimes betting on the big guns like Manchester City and Liverpool pays dividends. But at the World Cup, the group draw proves pivotal in determining who might go deep into the tournament – be it in expected fashion or as a surprise outsider.

So how are the groups for World Cup 2022 shaping up?

Ones to avoid

The top two from each group qualifies for the knockout phase of the competition, but there is – historically at least – plenty of value in winning the group, to theoretically, secure an easier Round of 16 tie.

Germany and Spain have been matched in Group E, which makes winning the bracket that bit tougher, and there’s also Japan and the winner of the Costa Rica vs New Zealand play-off. The Japanese have qualified for the knockout phase in three of the last five World Cups, so the Germans and Spanish will have to be on their mettle.

There are groups in which the standout favorite might have to fight hard to achieve what is expected of them. Brazil have quality to spare, but Switzerland, Serbia and Cameroon will certainly keep them honest in Group G.

Group H is also interesting. Portugal are likely to be a force in what could be Cristiano Ronaldo’s last World Cup, but they could be pushed hard by three capable opponents – Uruguay, South Korea and Ghana.

The unlikely lads

Spotting some interesting outsiders is an easy task in this particular World Cup draw.

In Group A, the Netherlands are expected to top the pile, but keep an eye out for Senegal – the Africa Cup of Nations champions boast the likes of Sadio Mané, Edouard Mendy and Boulaye Dia and other quality operators. They will surely have too much firepower for Ecuador and hosts Qatar in that group.

The United States are interesting in Group B too. They might not be able to overcome England, but they could be more than a match for the UEFA qualifier and Iran – the US have an exciting young team made up of players plying their club trade in the English Premier League, German Bundesliga and Spanish La Liga.

You suspect this will be the last major tournament for the likes of Luka Modrić, Domagoj Vida and Ivan Perišić, so time is very much of the essence for World Cup 2018 finalists Croatia.

But the core of their team remains rock solid and with plenty of top flight experience, and in a group containing Belgium, Morocco and Canada they will be disappointed not to progress to the knockout phase of the competition.

And then…. who knows?
