The Handmaid’s Tale by Margeret Atwood, first published in 1985 in Toronto, Canada, is a novel that presents a dystopian society in which women are stripped of their rights and freedoms. The story follows Offred, a Handmaid assigned to a high-ranking couple to bear their child. Recently, the novel has reached widespread and is of particular interest due to recent socio-political events and issues.

The narration is in the first-person perspective, which allows the reader to experience the story through Offred’s eyes. It builds a vivid picture of her surroundings, movements, and observations of the world around her. Offred reflects on recent events and the even further past, providing insight into her character and the state of the world. Offred’s life is limited in many ways. She is no longer allowed to own money, have a job, or even have a family. She is separated from her husband and daughter and is now solely responsible for bearing children for her assigned couple. The inequality between her and the others she encounters is stark and oppressive.

Overall, the novel provides a thought-provoking commentary on the dangers of authoritarianism and the importance of individual rights and freedoms in society. Offred is merely a person with ovaries who observes and does very little of her own accord; she responds and recites what she has to say and do (under instructions and prior teachings from Aunt Lydia, a higher-ranking woman). Ultimately, she is there to be impregnated by the Commander, as it talks about how handmaids are brought in for that purpose. Her body and self are only ideal in the eyes of something ‘sacral’; her reproductive capacity only matters, and she is shaped by society’s biological determinist views stemming from its religion.

The men, I.e., the Commander, are always outside in public as strong individuals with duties. The other dutiful roles, such as Angels and Guards, also seem ‘masculine’ in characterization. The latter means that men or the masculine are in roles that enforce or instruct those lower in the hierarchal social ladder than them. Women, the Marthas, the Handmaids, and the Wives are confined to domestic duties and private environments: the kitchen, the room Offred stays in, the garden, and the living room where the Wife knits. The male Commander has the power position to outdo anyone who lives under his roof; the men, as mentioned before in the dutiful public roles, have power over women as Offred recalls hearing about an incident where the guard shot Martha (a woman) for only appearing to be a threat because she fiddled around for something. Minor incidences like these with dire consequences at the hands of strong men, as envisioned when describing the guards and other characters, provoke the concept that men are the more powerful sex over women.

Comment from the article writer:

In light of these bleak resonances and the “public” and “private” dichotomies in the novel containing an extremely authoritarian societal context, I can see how it can relate to the experiences of women and men parallel to our societies. In Gilead, sorts of sexual/chivalry acts are forbidden, so Offred needs to be discreet to avoid punishment. The societal demeanour against women is something many women have experienced, myself, my mother, and my female friends included; women’s values and ‘rational mind’ are not taken into significant consideration in contemporary society, which in Gilead, it is the same, but to a more substantial extreme. The overall fear of punitive punishment on a grander scale does exist in our actual world; the political tyranny and dictation by policing forces is a very apparent issue that is applicable and continues to persist in broader society.

Despite the bleak nature of the novel, it provides a thought-provoking commentary on the dangers of authoritarianism and the importance of individual rights and freedoms in society. It also highlights the stark and oppressive inequality between Offred and those around her. As someone who identifies as a genderqueer, the novel’s portrayal of gender roles and oppression deeply resonated with me. It is a powerful reminder of the importance of fighting against societal norms restricting individual freedoms and rights based on gender.

Earlier in the college football season Fox Sports analyst Emmanuel Acho tweeted this “with National Championship hopes gone, Caleb Williams should consider sitting out the rest of the season. The Heisman is a long shot, CFB Playoffs are even less likely, and he won’t play in the bowl game. The risk of playing FAR outweighs the reward. Business decision.”

Sure there are those around college football who understand why Acho made the suggestion as there is always a risk of Williams suffering a serious injury. He is also arguably one of the most talented quarterbacks to play and is easily the no.1 overall pick in the NFL Draft.

It also means that Williams was playing this year for selfish reasons, which was to win the Heisman Trophy Award in back-to-back seasons. A national title, icing on the cake. Yet the USC Trojans have also struggled mightily defensively especially in the last 6 games with opponents averaging 44 points per game.

So it is not surprising that USC is 3-3 in their last six games.

As for Williams he still has been great though he did struggle in the Trojans loss to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He threw for 199 yards, a touchdown and three interceptions. Against the Utah Utes he threw for 256 yards and only had one touchdown which was with his legs.

He bounced back against the University of California throwing for 369 yards and two touchdowns, he also ran two in for touchdowns. Arguably he outplayed now leading Heisman candidate Michael Penix Jr, as he threw for 312 yards and three touchdowns and ran one in.

Penix Jr on the other hand threw for 256 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. He also ran one in.

Still Williams needs to get thanked by college football fans, not torn down. After the Trojans lost their third game of the season, the camera panned to him. He had found his mother and is being comforted by her as he cries.

Of course that is when certain comments being to start. Apparently some were deleted, this one for example was not.

What Williams actions proves here is that he cares about his team and winning. So once again a thank you is owed to him, as he could have easily been selfish and in it for only himself and not care about the results on way or the other. Then again, guaranteed that the ones criticizing the reaction are the same ones likely to cry and make excuses for why their favorite team ended up losing.

“Business makes strange bedfellows.” That is certainly case with Mortenson|McCarthy working with Oakland Athletics owner John Fisher and Team President Dave Kaval.

For those who have not been following along with the Athletics drama in regard to a new ballpark. Mortenson|McCarthy got hired as the construction company to build one in Las Vegas, Nevada once Fisher gets approval to relocate the team. Problem is the renderings of the new ballpark that were used to get approval from the Nevada senate in June were not even usable. Brad Schrock who is the A’s Director of Design said “you saw renderings in the newspaper, but wad those up for now.”

Those are still wadded up and even worse is that the site is too small for a ballpark.

Looking at the mission statement from Mortenson it says “it’s our never-ending quest. Our purpose. To create great experiences and the best outcomes for everyone. And our core values guide the way.”

Interesting that Mortenson uses “outcomes for everyone.” One has to wonder if the company is paying attention to what is going on with Fisher and the A’s. Currently, there is a lawsuit against Schools Over Stadiums which was started by Nevada educators who are opposed to using taxpayer funds to finance a new ballpark.

Schools Over Stadiums on September 6 put out this statement that says the group has been “committed to pursuing every possible path to stop the use of public funds to subsidize a billionaire’s stadium and that has always included putting the question to Nevada voters who were effectively shut out of the process. Nevada’s priorities are misguided and when we launched Schools Over Stadiums in June, our goal was to ensure that public funds go to the services Nevadans depend on like our public schools, not to a California billionaire for a stadium.”

Mortenson cannot even abide by its mission statement by working with Fisher and the Athletics. Hardly a good look for any company to get associated with a group that is willing to file lawsuits against educators. The same can be said for McCarthy.

Beyond that the Athletics know that Las Vegas residents and stakeholders were against the ballpark. A poll done prior to a special session showed 80 percent of Las Vegas residents and stakeholders against it.

One also has to wonder does that everyone also include A’s fans? Cause simply put, having their favorite team stolen away to another city hardly qualifies as a “great experience” or “outcome.”

So now if Mortenson|McCarthy actually wanted to build a ballpark in Las Vegas the easiest solution is to skip working with the Athletics all together. Instead, all that is needed is to work with Major League Baseball and come to an agreement to build one in Vegas for an expansion team.

For Mortenson|McCarthy it is still not too late to do the right thing. End their partnership with the Athletics immediately.

There is no question that Brock Purdy has found success with the San Francisco 49ers as their starting quarterback, which led to the trade of no.3 overall pick in the 2021 draft, Trey Lance to the Dallas Cowboys.

Still Purdy has more recently been compared to the legendary Tom Brady. Is it a fair one? No. The only similarities between the two is that one got picked in the sixth round and the other in the seventh as the last pick of the 2022 NFL Draft.

For one Brady only made one appearance in his rookie season of 2000, in which he completed one pass for six yards. It was in year two when he got his opportunity to start early in the 2001 season as Drew Bledsoe suffered a season ending injury.

When it comes to Purdy he made some appearances, once when the 49ers were blown out by the Kansas City Chiefs and twice in kneel down situations. He completed four passes out of nine attempts for 66 yards. Then Jimmy Garoppolo suffered his season ending injury and he took over against the Miami Dolphins.

Purdy ended that game completing 25 of 37 passes for 210 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in a 33-17 victory. In his first career start against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers he was efficient completing 16 of 21 passes for 185 yards and two touchdowns in a 35-7 win. San Francsico won the remaining games he started in the regular season.

In the playoffs he impressed with wins over division rival the Seattle Seahawks and Dallas Cowboys. Then bad news struck early in the NFC Championship game against the Philadelphia Eagles, he got hurt which resulted in a tear of his UCL, which required Tommy John surgery.

He recovered quickly and Kyle Shanahan named him the starting quarterback for the 2023 season. He then won his first five starts of the season before proving he was in fact human against a tremendous Cleveland Browns defense. Some throws he normally completes were missed and there were several drops including one by Brandon Aiyuk which likely changes the outcome of the game.

Overall against the Browns he completed only 12 passes on 27 attempts for 125 yards, a touchdown and an interception.

Sunday’s loss was his first regular season loss that Purdy has started. So far in his career he is 10-1, completed 68 percent of his passes, thrown for 2,494 yards, 21 touchdowns and three interceptions.

When it comes to Brady he got his first 11 career starts in year two. The New England Patriots went 8-3, he completed 66 percent of his passes, threw for 2,254 yards, 16 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

His first career start was a 44-13 victory over the Indianapolis Colts in which he threw for 168 yards, start no.2 Brady once again did not throw a touchdown pass or an interception yet wound up with 86 yards while completing 12 of 24 passes in a 30-10 loss to the Dolphins. Against the San Diego Chargers he bounced back with 364 yards passing and two touchdowns in a 29-26 victory.

Other notable games for Brady in those starts as a two touchdown and four interception performance against the Denver Broncos in a 31-20 loss, threw for 107 yards, a touchdown, and an interception in a win over the Buffalo Bills, 185 yards a touchdown, and two interceptions against the St. Louis Rams in a 24-17 loss, and two interceptions in a 27-16 win over the Browns.

It is fair to say that Brady was inconsistent to start his career off, Purdy on the other hand has been much more consistent. From the win-loss record, completion percentage, touchdown to interception ratio, yardage, and yards per game the 49ers quarterback has been better.

So it is truly time to stop with the comparison. Using draft position to make it, is irrelevant.

Here is a history lesson for the uninitiated, especially in this attention span of a fish world.

Tom Landry was an engineer who invented both the most innovative offense of the 20th century, and the most innovative defense of the 20th century. When you see the 4-3 defense with a middle linebacker free to roam most of the field like a knight on a chess board, that’s Tom Landry. Going outside the sport for talent? That was Landry. He picked up Bob Hayes from track and field. and Rafael Septien and Efren Herrera from soccer. Multiple formation offense? Landry. He knew other coaches would take his 4-3 and use it, so he created an offense with the ability to score.

That same man, who had a lot of humility and grace, could have an ego also, and it could hold his team back. Landry had to simplify his offensive system to start having winning seasons, then let Roger Staubach call plays to win Super Bowls. Despite all that, he took back the play calling, had a partial season where he switched out Staubach and Craig Morton every other play, accelerated Staubach and Don Meredith’s retirements because both felt they were cogs in a machine, and stubbornly refused to change up his game plans when younger and forward thinking coaches were crushing the Cowboys on the field every week. In Landry’s last four years of coaching, his teams got beat by fourteen or more points sixteen times. Add three more to that if you add in 1985 when the Bears won 44-0 in Texas Stadium.

There really isn’t anything wrong with having an ego. Every single athlete and coach has one, and they wouldn’t be successful without one. I always say it’s great to have a lot of confidence with a twinge of charming cockiness. Arrogance is where one loses the plot. Arrogance refuses to build a system around the specific strengths of a player, and arrogance refuses to see when it’s a new era and you need to learn what is new and adapt.

I brought up Tom Landry not out of disrespect, but to show that stubborn ego can happen to anyone. To his credit, at least Landry had earned his ego. As was mentioned, Landry invented most of what we see on Sundays now, and take for granted.

What are the other coaches’ excuse?

When a Matt Nagy or Matt Canada lose their minds when a quarterback changes a play that is clearly not working, and stays angry when that choice worked, that is out of control arrogance. When a Sean Payton or Mike McCarthy have the same tired, boring, outdated game plan week after week, that is a different level of arrogance. That is the arrogance of the old head who can’t leave the past.

Mike Tomlin gets criticized for being “less an Xs and Os guy, and more motivator”. This is where so many people get coaching wrong…including the coaches themselves. The idea of coaching should absolutely be teaching young men and women, depending on who you coach, to think for themselves. To trust their own judgments whether they make a mistake or not. The true leader tries to build other leaders.

Because we get this wrong, you get a lot of coaches, past, present, and no doubt future, that feel the need to show off that big brain. 3rd and inches? Must do a jet sweep three yards behind the line of scrimmage. 2nd and 24? RPO.

Let’s ask this question though. Is the arrogance simply to show off the big brain, or do these coaches want to be TV stars?

I’ll explain.

Media has always wanted to create the star. That is a tale that is as old as time. These days, it’s not even as simple as ignoring the player or personality that doesn’t have the proper Q rating. These days, media is flat out nasty to the unchosen. Notice Jimmy Garoppolo gets acknowledgments that he is the leader in INTs, but that’s about it? Notice Joe Burrow is given a LOT of leeway for starting slow the last two years? Notice Justin Herbert gets shielded behind the world blasting on Brandon Staley. Mind you, each guy has credentials backing them up, but they also have the Hollywood Q rating.

You know who doesn’t? Brock Purdy. Go on ESPN and all you hear is that he is a product of the system, especially Shannon Sharpe. Justin Fields absolutely gets a criminal amount of leeway for being 6-24 and having a couple good games once in a while, and Mitch Trubisky starting career is over for having a winning record and making quite a few good plays in his time in Chicago. It doesn’t hurt that JF has an insufferable fanbase that could care less about winning if he tickles their fancy with highlights. I call them JF Swifties for a reason.

Media wants you to give Anthony Richardson so much time to develop despite  the fact he doesn’t belong in the NFL yet. Q rating brought him in way too early. If that didn’t matter, Tim Tebow would still be in the league. He really couldn’t throw well in the NFL, but his 4th quarters were ratings juggernauts.

Didn’t matter, he was a dork or something. Stephen A Smith despised that Tebow won those games. Stephen A Smith, the holder of the most artificial swag and cool level since George Jefferson, is telling us what is considered cool. He painfully attempts to be Stuart Scott, who actually WAS cool.

Back to the original point.

Know what else the NFL is trying to destroy that good coaches use? The tush push. It works, but it’s not flashy. It’s something Mike Ditka probably wishes he invented. TV doesn’t want that era anymore. They want casual eyes on the product. That’s why you have Taylor Swift and football games from English soccer stadiums simulcast from Andy’s room from Toy Story.

It makes winning only a bonus to the bottom line, but that’s the way it is now.

What is the proper way to refer to Deion Luwynn Sanders, Sr., currently employed as the Head Coach of the football team of the University of Colorado at Boulder? This question actually has a rather simple answer. The man has requested that he be referred to as “Coach Prime” as his professional name, and therefore he should be referred to as Coach Prime.

This is a normal courtesy.  For example, if a person is named William Robert Jones, he could simply be called William. But he might prefer to be called Will, Willy, Bill, or Billy. Or he might prefer to be known by his middle name and be called Robert, Bob, Bobby, Bubba, Bo, or even Billy Bob. Perhaps he prefers he prefers to be called Will Jones but hates being called Billy Bob Jones.  So out of respect, you call him Will  Jones. But if you want to be a jerk, you call him “Billy Bob!  Hey, Billy Bob!”  And therein lies the issue. It’s a question of respect.

A human being deserves to be called what he or she wishes to be called. A petty game of disrespect is to call them something else. This petty game has been played by racists for centuries. Would you like to be referred to as a man? Well, we’re going to make a point of calling you “boy.”  It is not a term of endearment if we refuse to call you a man.

This is why it is wrong if sportswriters insist on referring to Coach Prime by some other less formal form of address.  Coach Prime is extremely polite in his press conferences. This commentator cannot say that he has seen every press conference given by the coach, but in almost every instance he refers to the sportswriter as “Sir” or “Ma’am.” This is just the style or decorum he has sought to instill in his press conferences.

In some cases, sportswriters have insisted on their right to refer to Coach Prime by his first name, pointing out that other famous head coaches allow sportswriters to communicate on a first-name basis.  That is not the point. If Oail Andrew Phillips was okay being called Bum Phillips, that is fine. That doesn’t mean you should call everyone “Bum.”  The rules is very simple: call the person by whatever name he or she has requested.

If you were at a press conference with the President of the United States, would you refer to him as Mr. President? Or would you insist on using his first name?  Would it depend on which political party he belonged to?

If you ever get a chance to interview His Holiness Pope Francis I, you probably would not call him by his given name, Jorge. Or if you would, you would be a jerk of epic proportions.

On the other hand, let’s face it. A lot of people just don’t like Deion Sanders and are not interested in respecting him. Could it be that some people just don’t want African American coaches to succeed?

Coach Jay Norvell sank to a new low. “When I talk to grown-ups, I take my hat and my glasses off. That’s what my mother taught me.”

Have anyone ever heard of that rule?  The implication is that Sanders is a boy, and that Sanders’ mother didn’t teach him properly.  That is a new low.  It is shameful, and Coach Norvell should be put on a leave of absence to undergo sensitivity training. This is awful and goes way beyond the bounds of college rivalry.

The NFL is a dynamic league that constantly evolves year after year. Among the various changes, the rise of mobile quarterbacks has become a prominent trend in recent times. This article explores the impact and significance of mobile quarterbacks in the NFL, how they have transformed the game, and the reasons behind their increased prevalence.

Introduction

In today’s fast-paced and highly competitive NFL, teams are continuously seeking innovative strategies to gain an edge over their opponents. One such strategy involves the utilization of mobile quarterbacks, who have the ability to impact the game both through their passing skills and their exceptional mobility and running ability. These dual-threat quarterbacks not only pose a challenge for opposing defenses but also provide exciting opportunities for fans and bettors who are keen on exploring NFL odds and predicting the outcome of games. With their versatility and playmaking abilities, mobile quarterbacks have become valuable assets for teams aiming to elevate their offensive capabilities and maximize their chances of success.

The Evolution of Quarterbacks in the NFL

Throughout the history of the NFL, quarterbacks have been predominantly known for their passing abilities. Pocket passers, who excel at making accurate throws from the confines of the pocket, have been the traditional archetype of a quarterback. However, the emergence of mobile quarterbacks has challenged this conventional perception and expanded the boundaries of the position. As the game has evolved, so have the expectations and demands placed on quarterbacks. Mobile quarterbacks bring a new level of athleticism and versatility to the position, allowing them to extend plays with their legs and create opportunities for their teams.

What Makes a Quarterback Mobile?

A mobile quarterback is characterized by their agility, speed, and ability to extend plays with their legs. They possess the athleticism to escape the pass rush and make plays on the run. Unlike pocket passers, these quarterbacks are not solely reliant on their arm strength and accuracy. Instead, they bring an additional dimension to their team’s offense through their mobility. This mobility allows them to improvise when plays break down, evade defenders, and create opportunities for both themselves and their teammates.

The Dual Threat: Passing and Running

Mobile quarterbacks provide a dual threat to opposing defenses. They have the capability to not only make accurate throws from the pocket but also utilize their legs to create big plays on the ground. This dual threat keeps defenses off balance and forces them to account for both the passing and running abilities of the quarterback, making it more challenging to defend against them effectively. Their ability to extend plays and create with their legs adds a level of unpredictability to the game, making them difficult to game-plan against.

The Advantages of Mobile Quarterbacks

The rise of mobile quarterbacks in the NFL can be attributed to several advantages they bring to their teams. Firstly, their ability to extend plays allows for more opportunities to find open receivers and create explosive plays. When a pocket collapses, mobile quarterbacks can use their agility to avoid sacks and keep plays alive, giving their receivers more time to get open downfield. Secondly, their mobility adds an extra dimension to the running game, as they can act as a ball carrier themselves or execute read-option plays effectively. This forces defenses to respect the quarterback as a runner, opening up additional running lanes for the team’s running backs. Lastly, mobile quarterbacks often possess excellent field vision, enabling them to make quick decisions and exploit defensive weaknesses. They can survey the field while on the move and identify open receivers or potential running lanes, maximizing the offensive potential of each play.

Impact on Offensive Strategy

The presence of a mobile quarterback has a significant impact on the overall offensive strategy of a team. Coaches have adapted their play-calling to maximize the skills of these quarterbacks, incorporating more designed quarterback runs, read-options, and bootlegs into their offensive schemes. This evolution has not only increased the versatility of the offense but also put additional pressure on opposing defenses to account for the quarterback’s mobility. Defenses must be prepared to defend against both the passing and running threats posed by mobile quarterbacks, requiring them to be disciplined and adaptable in their assignments.

Defensive Challenges and Adaptations

The rise of mobile quarterbacks has forced defenses to adjust their strategies. Defenders must be prepared to contain the quarterback’s running ability while also defending against the passing game. This requires a more disciplined approach, with defenders maintaining their assignments and ensuring containment to prevent the quarterback from breaking free for big gains. Additionally, defenses may employ spy techniques, assigning a defender specifically to shadow the mobile quarterback and limit their running opportunities. This adaptability and discipline are essential for defending against the unique challenges posed by mobile quarterbacks.

Success Stories: Notable Mobile Quarterbacks

Several mobile quarterbacks have made a significant impact in the NFL in recent years. Players like Lamar Jackson, Kyler Murray, and Jalen Hurts have showcased their dual-threat abilities and become focal points of their team’s offense. Their success has further validated the value of mobile quarterbacks in today’s game and encouraged teams to explore similar options for their own rosters. These quarterbacks have not only provided excitement and highlight-reel plays but have also led their teams to success on the field.

The Future of Mobile Quarterbacks

As the NFL continues to evolve, it is likely that the prevalence of mobile quarterbacks will persist and even increase. The success of these quarterbacks and the innovative offensive strategies they inspire will shape the future of the league. Teams will continue to seek quarterbacks who can make an impact both through the air and on the ground, blurring the line between traditional pocket passers and mobile playmakers. The versatility and playmaking ability of mobile quarterbacks will continue to challenge defenses and provide exciting opportunities for fans and bettors who are eager to explore NFL odds and predict the outcomes of games.

Conclusion

The rise of mobile quarterbacks has revolutionized the game of football. These dual-threat athletes bring a new dimension to the field, challenging defenses and providing their teams with a strategic advantage. As the NFL continues to evolve, the presence of mobile quarterbacks will shape the league’s landscape, influencing offensive strategies and creating new opportunities for success. Whether it’s evading defenders with their agility or making pinpoint throws on the run, mobile quarterbacks have redefined the quarterback position and established themselves as game-changers in the modern NFL.

The PGA Tour, LIV Golf, and the DP World Tour have agreed on a merger.

What this means. The LIV Golfers can now apply for reinstatement to the PGA Tour to play in their events again.

The merger allows various different styles of golf tournaments to be promoted in the competitive platform from team competitions and individual competitions to 54 and 72 hole events for all involved.

The skill levels of golfers that compete in said events will have a more accurate calculation in how competitive the competition will be week in and week out.

What possibly could have caused the accelerated deal to get done. LIV Golf tournament players couldn’t previously play in events hosted by the PGA Tour.

When the majors came around the LIV players proved that the competition was strong as ever. At the Masters you have 3 of the top 4 finishers LIV golfers, and at the PGA Championship you have Brooks Koepka a fellow LIV golfer win to showcase how strong that LIV really is.

All parties assessed how competition will be impacted, and felt the merger would be the best move.

Let’s explore the winners and the losers of this series of events.

Winner- LIV Tour golfers. The players that jumped to LIV during the inaugural year got millions in bonuses to join the competitive tour.

Jumping into something like that is similar to getting in at Apple when it was young in the 80’s, saying yes to Mark Zuckerberg in his Harvard dorm room to assist with launching Facebook, or buying Bitcoin when it was a couple bucks.

Winner – Donald Trump. LIV gave Donald Trump the opportunity to showcase his properties to top competition. With top competition playing his golf courses, Donald Trump gains more publicity.

With Trump calling the merger happening in the summer of 2022, it continues to prove his credibility as a businessman. Now that the merger has officially happened it proves Trump right.

Could he use this as a stepping stone for a 2024 run at President?

Winner – Golf. With the merger of the tours. The game of golf is starting to get the global respect that it deserves. Many have overlooked golf about not being very popular.

LIV Golf created an atmosphere to generate interest to the young fan from loud music, to more interaction overall with the players on the course.

With the merger the young crowd that LIV Golf created, the PGA Tour can get some of that fanbase that the LIV Tour created.

Now golf can compete with soccer as being the one of the most popular sport globally behind soccer, as LIV helped get golf on the global stage with more events in international markets.

Winner – Competition. With the LIV players getting the opportunity to apply for reinstatement, competition will continue to be more star studded in the future as players from both tours can attempt different styles of competition going forward.

Winner – Phil Mickelson. Mickelson was a big ambassador for LIV with the idea that golf would grow. His fellow competitors criticized him, questioned his ethics, and simply ignored him as he made the switch to LIV.

Now that the merger has happened Lefty ultimately gets the last laugh.

Winner – Gary Player. Gary Player has been the global ambassador for golf for decades.

Loser – Loyalty and trust of the PGA Tour Players. The PGA Tour players stayed on the PGA with a promise that their tour would stay independent from LIV as their tour would remain exclusive for PGA Tour players only.

However, most players are disgruntled that they found out via Twitter about the merger from Collin Morikawa to Mackenzie Hughes. Seems like Monahen and company dropped the ball here.

Making a decision without getting ideas from the people that market the product is a big red flag, maybe they thought they were always in the front who knows.

Loser – The Wallet of Tiger Woods. Granted Tiger isn’t struggling with money by any means, however his wallet could be $800 million richer if he accepted the offer knowing that the tours would merge down the road.

Loser – The legacy of the legends that made the PGA Tour what it is. Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Sam Snead, Ben Hogan, among others must feel like everything they worked for, was nothing but greed by the future generations. When they played they had the respect of the game that may be appeared as lost in the eyes of some of those folks.

Loser – Golf Purists. When golf purists think competitive golf of the worlds best, they think of the PGA Tour only for the most part.

When the LIV Tour was formed golf purists were not happy because they thought the launch destroyed the integrity of the game.

After the news of the two tours joining forces, golf purists were again not happy with the outcome that was announced.

Dear journalism students,

I admit that I am not a journalist myself. In fact, I am a Pundit…The Pundit’s Pundit to be exact. The title is a call out to today’s pundits who build their on-screen, or online, opinions based on how many clicks they can generate. They are too fearful to get criticism from online mobs, or too fearful to listen to a contrasting opinion that might start a real dialogue.

The same has happened to journalism.

The title of this letter is an ode to an old-school journalist by the name of Frank Reynolds. When President Reagan was shot, his press secretary James Brady was shot also. The initial report from all three networks was that Brady had died, and when Reynolds found out it wasn’t true, he went off on the air.

“LET’S GET IT NAILED DOWN…LET’S GET IT RIGHT”

Numerous mainstream media outlets, all with varying philosophies and narratives, all prove we’re not getting it right.

People are more fueled by emotion than ever. A huge subset of people root for the assassination of the leader of the free world, no matter which party, which would cause a worldwide meltdown. Physical assaults, threats, and doxxing occurs when we bring up the truths we all learned in grade school. A global virus was used for blame and not solutions. What is supposed to bring us together keeps tearing us apart.

Ask yourselves these questions. Why are journalists held hostage by millions of Twitter feeds that average about eighty followers? Why are journalists held hostage by the QWERTY keyboard mob…a mob that keeps adding more letters or symbols depending on which special interest group shells out the cash? How did the simple knowledge of how the immune system works become the enemy? How did victimhood become a currency? Why is wealth evil instead of teaching everyone how money works?

Most of all…why does Donald Trump anger people?

I think I know why.

Donald Trump is the loud, arrogant caricature of every establishment politician and journalist that had the ability to hide their true selves till eight years ago. He arrogance is louder, his lies are louder. They are angry and aren’t even trying to hide their true intentions. That’s not just the opposing party…it’s his party also.

One party hates him because he brought a voter bloc back they didn’t want to have to win over again, and the other hates him because it’s 2023 and he runs a 1986 campaign.

I make these points because it’s up to all of you to bring journalism back, and you have to do it by creating your own independent source. Ben Shapiro did his job with Daily Wire, Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian did theirs with Young Turks, Bari Weiss left the New York Times to create FP(Free Press). It’s the way to go. New York Times is dead, Washington Post died in darkness, CNN’s got one foot in the grave, and even FOX can’t get ad revenue that isn’t assisted living facilities, gold, or reverse mortgages.

You are all the future because of one word.

Truth. Not YOUR truth, not social media’s truth.

Truth.

You will get that truth in two ways.

  1. A little extra elbow grease.
  2. Allow dialogue with EVERYONE

Number two is important. I’m not talking about violent radicals because they are usually found on Craigslist and paid by a really wealthy radical we rarely see. I’m saying the everyday people, wealthy or poor, liberal or conservative, that have to contribute to this society through paying taxes, sending their kids to schools, dealing with local government, etc.

Again, Twitter isn’t real life.

And as far as Trump goes, if you want to get him, you can’t have a dog in the fight, and you certainly can’t hate him. He feeds off that emotion better than anyone else. You have to understand what he is and how his mind works. First step is understanding he’s a human being…a narcissistic human being, an arrogant human being, but still a human being. CNN and MSNBC treats him like a cartoonish 80s WWF bad guy, and FOX and Breitbart treats him like the second coming of Jesus.

He’s human. Start there and work your way up. You will make a lot more headway.

Sincerely,

The Pundit’s Pundit
